March 25 1988: THE daily Post Bus, which has provided a lifeline for the villages of the Hambleden valley for more than 11 years, is to be withdrawn at Easter. It will be replaced by a twice-weekly service on Mondays and Thursdays, covering the same routes and funded by Buckinghamshire County Council.
Two women lost their purses while in Henley shops this week. On Monday afternoon, Maureen Stephens, from London. lost a purse containing cash and credit cards to the value of £70 from her handbag in Lewis Meeson’s newsagents in Bell Street. The other woman lost her purse containing £85 from her shopping bag at Waitrose on Tuesday afternoon.
Schoolchildren from the Wargrave area took part in a science fair at Piggott School at the weekend. They had to make an electric circuit, a device to explode a balloon, a package for 10 marbles, a burglar alarm, a blow-pipe rocket and a self-propelled rocket.
