THE CASE of a packet of unsound sausages came before Tuesday’s meeting of Henley Rural District Council. The Public Health Committee, stating that they had carefully considered the purchaser’s complaint after having before them a letter from the owner of the shop expressing his regrets, had decided to warn the retailer of the seriousness of the complaint but informed that no proceedings would be taken by the council on this occasion.

A driver who was said to have inconvenienced 50 other motorists by his swerving and the use of headlights on the high beam was fined £25 and disqualified from driving for a year when he appeared at Henley Magistrates Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle while unfit to do so because of drink or drugs.

A number of members of the ambulance and nursing divisions from Henley made their way by coach and car on Monday evening to the historic home of the presidents of the Henley ambulance and nursing divisions, Sir Felix and Lady Brunner. In the centuries-old Cromwellian house, presentations of gifts were made to two old and faithful members.
