Turning Back the Pages

IT seems as if there is a definite possibility of Henley’s Kenton Theatre re-opening in the not too distant future. Last week’s meeting in the council chamber accepted a proposal that this should take place as soon as possible. The Kenton restoration committee hopes to raise £15,000 so that extensive improvements can be carried out as well as the fire officer’s recommendations complied with, although the plan will still go through even if that amount is not raised.

People attending a special mass at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Henley on Tuesday evening had to stand because the church was so full on the first occasion that Congregationalists, Anglicans, Methodists and Roman Catholics had gathered at the church. No one from the Baptist Church was able to attend but some 40 members of the Congregational Church were in attendance.

Revised administrative arrangements on the Henley branch line are being introduced. From Sunday, January 31, tickets will only be sold at stations on the branch for limited periods on the busiest mornings. At other times they will be issued on trains.
