A GLAMOROUS great- grandmother from Henley married the boy next door after a whirlwind six-month romance. Ivy Studd, 61, was attended by her granddaughter Charlotte Studd, eight, and her great- granddaughter Danielle Newbury, four, when she married Ray Garnham, 59, at St Mary's Church in Henley. Ivy, who works for Brakspear's brewery, didn't have far to move after becoming Mrs Garnham as Ray's flat is in Mount View Court.

Moves are afoot to save the old Manor House at Henley's Chilterns End home for the elderly should Oxfordshire County Council decide to sell it as part of a new scheme to update accommodation for the elderly in the county. Volunteer workers at the home have taken matters into their own hands and are to ask Henley Town Council and other companies and organisations if they will put money into a scheme to convert the house into sheltered housing.

River levels in Henley are on their way down, according to theNational Rivers Authority. After a week of wind and rain, homes on the riverside are returning to normal. Worst hit were Henley, Shiplake, Sonning and Medmenham where many roads were impassable and gardens submerged under several inches of water.
