A WOMAN who lives on the crossroads which claimed the life of a teenage girl on Christmas Day has called for urgent action to make the junction safer. Lisa Clements, 16, from Woodley, died after the car being driven by her brother was in collision with a Honda CR-V at the junction of Sonning Common Road and Emmer Green Road in Binfield Heath. Angela May, who lives by the junction, says that hardly a day goes by without her hearing the screech of brakes as cars overshoot the “Stop” line.

A plan to house five families in small affordable homes has fallen through due to a lack of support from councillors. Members of the Henley and District Housing Trust heard that plans for a site in Peppard had been discussed after the possibility of the land being donated was raised. But chairwoman Oriel Emmett told the trust’s 75th annual meeting that the scheme was not supported by Peppard Parish Council.

Toddlers have given celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson food for thought after he described their chutney as having the “wow” factor. He has commissioned the children and parents from Munch Bunch in Woodcote to make more chutney for his Greyhound pub in Peppard.
