PLANS for a Tesco superstore on the outskirts of Henley met with firm support at a public launch last

PLANS for a Tesco superstore on the outskirts of Henley met with firm support at a public launch last week. More than 300 people visited the exhibition in the town hall and, according to Tesco representatives, the vast majority were in favour. The supermarket giant has entered into a reputed £4 million deal with the town council to build a 43,000 sq ft store with parking for 430 cars on land at the Mill Lane sports centre.

Clubbers can continue to dance the night away at Stallones in Henley after councillors decided not to revoke the club’s licence. South Oxfordshire’s licensing sub-committee considered taking action after receiving complaints about noise and nuisance. The objections were backed  by Henley Town Council, which wanted the club’s closing time brought forward from 2am to before midnight.

Homeowners have been warned to be on their guard against a man police call “The Knocker” who is said to be operating in the Henley area. The burglar calls at the door of his victims’ home before breaking in when there is no reply or speaking to them and waiting until the owner goes out.
