MRS L HALE, of Remenham Hill, Henley, was one of those honoured by the National Blood

MRS L HALE, of Remenham Hill, Henley, was one of those honoured by the National Blood Transfusion Service at a ceremony in Oxford on Tuesday. She received a gold badge from Dr Rosemary Biggs, consultant haematologist at the Medical Research Council’s blood coagulation research centre in Churchill Hospital, Oxford, to mark her 50th blood donation, which she gave on April 27.

The borough council has elected Alderman A R B Hobbs as Mayor for the ensuing year and members extended their thanks to Coun and Mrs R L Sadler, the outgoing Mayor and Mayoress, for their sterling services during their year of office. Ald Hobbs who previously held the office in 1952 and 1953.

Remenham Church and its churchyard were shown as an introduction to ATV’s Monday screening of its series Seven Deadly Sins. The episode, called The Cold Heart, was concerned with gluttony and the Remenham shots depicted post-funeral scenes and conversation.
