HOODED thugs robbed a teenage girl of her mobile phone in Henley town centre on Tuesday. The girl was walking from the Waitrose supermarket and talking on the phone when she was approached by the two muggers at 3.40pm in the alley that runs alongside Woolworths. She was ordered to hand over her £200 Samsung and when she refused the men knocked it out of her hand and ran off towards King’s Road car park.
CCTV cameras have been branded “a waste of public money” following two attacks of vandalism at Henley Bowls Club. Last Saturday night, hooligans broke down a fence before damaging the green in more than 20 different places. They smashed a vodka bottle, leaving glass fragments over the green. The damage comes one week after two windows at the clubhouse were smashed.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu received an honorary fellowship at Henley Management College at the launch of the scholarship programme to train South African managers. Beginning next year, the Desmond Tutu Scholarship Programme for Ethical Leadership will pay for five students to study for their MBAs at the college’s South Africa office.
