A HIGH Court hearing that could decide the future of a garden centre at the heart of a planning dispute took place last week.
Rob Scott, the owner of Hare Hatch Sheeplands, near Wargrave, and other business owners on the site spent four days arguing their case in an appeal against enforcement action by Wokingham Borough Council.
The council says Mr Scott developed on green belt land without permission.
He and his supporters claim the action threatens the future of the business. More than 4,800 people signed a petition calling for an end to the dispute, arguing that it was costing him and the taxpayer “ridiculous” sums.
Judge Karen Walden-Smith said she would issue her written judgement within a couple of weeks.
Mr Scott said: “I was grateful for the opportunity to state my case, as were the owners of the small businesses who are also affected by the council’s actions. We must now be patient as we await the judgement.”
