A SHOP selling Christmas decorations, lights and gifts has opened for business for the 16th year at the Tree Barn in Christmas Common.
The shop, which is run by Jane Ingram, will be open every day until Christmas Eve. Mrs Ingram, whose husband Andrew runs the tree-growing side of the business, said: “It takes two months and four of us working full-time to set up the shop.
“The place is full of cardboard boxes and pallets and lorries coming into the yard, so when we finally open it’s a nice gentle start and the stage where we can finally open the doors to the public. A lot of customers have come in and said when the flyer hits the doormat they know Christmas is starting.
“We have been more than twice as busy as we were last year. We had more than 600 people over the weekend. Families love to come out into the countryside but I would urge people to come during the week if they can.”
The Tree Barn, which has supplied Christmas trees to No 10 Downing Street three times, will begin selling trees from November 26.
