Success leads to top training for Hawkins
STUDENTS from Gillotts School’s ski team have been achieving notable success in regional and national events around the country and as far afield as Holland.

Competing at Hemel Hempstead indoor snow centre, with an entry of 200 skiers, Danielle Hawkins achieved first place in the U14 category. As well as picking up her medal, Danielle received three days’ race camp training with British Olympic skier Ed Drake.

Elsewhere Zara Hawkins came third in the Snowsport Wales event at Gloucester dry slope. The start of the Great Britain indoor series got under way at Landgraaf, Holland, at the largest indoor snow course in the world, where Danielle and Zara both finished third. Lily Hawkins notched up consistent fourth place finishes in all three events to narrowly miss out on prizes.

Gillotts ski team now have six racers and train twice weekly at the Bracknell dry slope and Hemel indoor snow centre. Anyone interested in joining the team should contact manager Nigel Hawkins on 07528 500902.
