Noise fear over pub

CONCERNS have been raised over plans to relicense the White Lion pub at Crays Pond.

Satwinder Sandhu, who bought the former Greene King premises in 2013, wants permission to be able to serve alcohol until midnight every day and to play live or recorded music, either inside or outside, from noon to midnight.

However, two neighbours have objected, saying this would cause disturbance.

South Oxfordshire District Council’s licensing officers say this could be overcome by limiting outside events to 12 days a year with a finish time of 7pm at the latest.

Goring Heath Parish Council does not object as the White Lion has been shut for more than three years and it wants it to re-open.

Chairman Peter Dragonetti said: “The application is for a pub and that is what we want. We don’t want to put any barriers in the way of its future success.”

Mr Sandhu, who is currently living at the property without permission, is yet to reveal his plans for the business but has named Robert Blues, landlord of the Butcher’s Arms in Sonning Common, as the premises supervisor.
