VIDEO: Henley river protest for cleaner waters

CAMPAIGNERS protested for cleaner river health in Henley last Friday. 

The event at the Friday Street slipway was organised by the Henley Mermaids open water swimming group and the Henley and Marlow River Action Group.

People from groups including Ocean Rebellion, River Action UK, Project Planet Earth and Thames21 also came for a swim, performance, music and speeches.

They criticised Thames Water for contributing to river pollution through dumping treated and untreated sewage into it. 

A Thames Water spokeswoman said the company was committed to protecting and enhancing the environment and is to invest around £4 billion into upgrading its network over the next two years.
