Loving great-grandmother celebrates 105th birthday

A loving great-grandmother and former housekeeper will celebrate her 105th birthday with family on Sunday.

Violet White, of Stud Green, was born in 1907 in Kent and worked as a housekeeper after she left school aged 13.

One of nine siblings Violet moved to Maidenhead, aged 22, and married William Mark White, who worked on the railway.

She had two children, Maureen and Valerie, and now lives with Valerie in Holyport.

She also has two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who will help celebrate her milestone birthday.

Valerie said her mum likes reading books, completing jigsaws and knitting. She also regularly attends the Holyport Darby and Joan Club.

"She's a fighter," she added.

"She's had a few things wrong with her but she's always pulled through."
