Great-grandmother Florence celebrates milestone birthday

A great-grandmother of 12 enjoyed a party with friends and family to celebrate a milestone birthday.

Florence Gregory celebrated turning 100 at the Forget Me Not residential home on Friday.

The centenarian was serenaded by carol singers from Our Lady of Peace Junior School, in Derwent Drive, before enjoying some cake.

The mother-of-three was born in London before moving to Lake Avenue in Slough and starting work at Paragon Pearls during the Second World War.

After marrying her husband George, the couple moved to Mercian Way in Cippenham, where they lived for 40 years.

For the last three years the grandmother of nine has lived at the Leaholme Gardens retirement home.

Granddaughter Bev McCann said her grandmother enjoyed the tea party and receiving a letter from the Queen.

She said: "She had a really lovely time and it was wonderful getting the family together."
