HALLOWEEN will be spilling over into next week when Reading-based artist Julian Gordon Mitchell gives a talk in Henley on the macabre.
Mitchell has been invited by the Henley Art and Crafts Guild to give the talk at King’s Arms Barn in Market Place next Thursday, November 7 from 7.30pm.
Many of his works feature elements of the macabre in his approach, called “Paranoid Realism”, a term first coined by Salvador Dali.
Mitchell was born in East Reading and currently works from a studio in the Open Hand Open Space facility on the Oxford Road. He has exhibited widely in Britain and abroad — his first solo show was in Berlin in 1998 and he has more recently shown work at the Mall Galleries and the Royal Academy in London.
