STAFF at the Old Station Nursery on the Fair Mile have put together two simple Christmas craft ideas that can easily be done with the children of all ages.

Festive wreath

This can be made from items foraged from the garden, unwanted Christmas decorations and wrapping accessories such as bows and ribbon. You will need:

- Card

- PVA glue

- Paint and brushes

- Scissors

- Foliage from the garden

- Glitter

- Unwanted Christmas decorations

Use a dinner plate to trace a circle on the card, find a tea plate to draw around for the inner circle of the wreath and cut out. Now simply allow the children to use their imagination to create a wonderful festive wreath with all the resources.

Handprint Christmas tree

This is made simply from handprints and items found in your arts and crafts drawer such as glitter and pom poms. You will need:

- Coloured card

- Green paint

- Paint brush

- PVA glue

- Glitter

- Pom poms or glitter

To create the Christmas tree get your child to paint their hand with the green paint. The hand prints start at the top of the paper with just one. On the next layer you place two hand prints side by side and finally the third layer has three hand prints side by side.

Once the Christmas tree has been created the children should use their artistic skills to decorate the tree with the glitter, pom poms and other craft resources you have gathered.

For more details about the Old Station Nursery email henley@theoldstation nursery.co.uk or call (01491) 577716.

Newsflash: the nursery is holding a free Christmas craft afternoon from 3pm to 5.30pm on Friday, December 13 and all local families are invited to join them for some free craft activities, a chance to visit Santa in his grotto, and refreshments. Suitable for tinies up to 11-year-olds. Go along and say hello.
