A CHARITY golf day raised more than £4,000 for Henley’s Chiltern Centre for disabled children.
A total of 64 players enjoyed an 18-hole round of golf followed by a two course buffet lunch at Henley Golf Club in Harpsden.
There was ladies, men’s and mixed teams and the event was a Stableford competition.
The winning men’s team at the sixth annual fundraiser was made up of Steve Edwards, Guy Outram, Andy Pye and Dave Colin while the winning women’s team consisted of Lynda Jones, Norma Read, Rachel Hall and Susie Smith.
Meanwhile, a mixed team of Pat Melling, John Rowland, Peter Collins and Joyce Collins was also victorious.
Emma Lerche-Thomsen, the centre’s community fundraiser, said: “It was a truly wonderful day despite the weather forecast being for rain and wind. We were lucky the rain held off until lunchtime. I’m so grateful for all the teams for playing and for their generosity in helping us raise over £4,000 for the Chiltern Centre. On behalf of the families and young people at the centre, I wish you a warm thank you.”
The day also featured a raffle, heads and tails conducted by Jerry Luckett and a live auction conducted by Steve Edwards, of Primary Times.Â
Live auction items included a champagne Sunday brunch provided by Hotel du Vin, a day’s self drive boat hire provided by Jonathan Hobbs of Hobbs of Henley and an 18 hole round of golf at the club with champion racing driver David Brabham.
The event was sponsored by Jerry Luckett, Chris Ward of Ward Connections and Primary Times.
Organisers also thanked Phyllis Court Club, Hennerton and Badgemore Golf Clubs, the Spice Merchant, Dorata Hair salon, The Argyll pub, Caversham Heath golf club , Mary Smith photography, and Henley Golf Club.
