Pupils visit Stonor House

YEAR 6 pupils ar Sacred Heart Primary School in Henley visited Stonor House on June 20.

The day began with Mass in the historic chapel, celebrated by Canon Paul Fitzpatrick, the parish priest.

Then the children were given a tour of the house. Lady Camoys has commissioned new educational materials to be used by children visiting Stonor House so she invited the Sacred Heart pupils to trial these and give feedback.

The children were fascinated by the building, especially the story of the 16th century martyr St Edmund Campion, who hid in the house before being hunted down and executed.

After lunch, Canon Paul led a short reflection and prayer session in the beautiful gardens of the house.

The day ended with the children enjoying Tumblestone Hollow, the adventure playground in the grounds of the park.
