HENLEY u3a’s summer buffet lunch took place at Sacred Heart Church hall, Walton Avenue, Henley, on July 16.
Forty members enjoyed a glass of Prosecco and a choice of wines and soft drinks with the two-course meal and coffee.
The menu included salmon mousse, a selection of quiches and salads, vanilla cheesecake and tiramisu.
Many thanks to Ros, Lynette, Pam and others who helped prepare and serve the meal.
The next coffee morning will be held on Tuesday, August 27 at 10.30am.
These occasions provide an opportunity to chat with friends and also for new and potential members to meet existing ones and to become part of the u3a family.
On the second Saturday of each month at noon, a number of members meet at the Catherine Wheel in Hart Street for a sociable lunchtime.
There is no need to book. Just turn up and look for the u3a tables. All u3a members are welcome. Rather like our monthly coffee mornings, this lunchtime meeting is becoming another valued opportunity to socialise and meet other members.
Our next meeting will be at noon on Saturday, September 14.
Henley u3a is about active participation and social interaction, offering companionship through lunches, coffee mornings and talks.
A series of general interest and art history talks continues, with a variety of topics to be covered.
The next one will be on September 11 when Bobbie Derbyshire will speak on “Where do novelists get their ideas from?”
Bobbie is a prize-winning author who will throw light on how characters, locations, plots and sub-plots may arrive in a novelist’s mind.
Non-members of retirement age are welcome to come along at a cost of £2 each on entry.
Members of the group’s committee will be available if anyone is interested in membership, which costs £15 a year.
Talks take place in the parish hall of Sacred Heart Church in Vicarage Road and start at 2pm prompt. Parking access is off Walton Avenue.
