Ford 'rescue'

FIREFIGHTERS took part in a water rescue exercise at a ford near Charvil which regularly traps unsuspecting drivers.

Three crews and a specialist water rescue unit waded through the water at Land’s End ford in search of two “swimmers”.

They pulled one from the water and removed a dummy on a stretcher and also had to deal with a panicked “friend”.

The ford has a history of incidents as drivers misjudge the depth of the water and the fire service regularly holds drills there.
