ROSANNA Lakatos was the first winner of this year’s Christmas hamper competition.

Ms Lakatos, of Adam Court, Henley, won the hamper, which has £75 of goods from Waitrose, after entering the Henley Standard competition for the first time.

She said: “I can’t believe I’ve won. My granddaughters have already had a look and it’s encouragement to enter more competitions. I’ll be sharing the hamper with my son’s young family and friends.” Ms Lakatos, who is retired and lives with her dogs Java and Echo, added that she reads the Henley Standard every week and it helped her settle in the town after moving from London.

She said: “I moved here three years ago and found Henley a very welcoming place.

“The Henley Standard has been very useful in showing me what life in Henley is about, because it’s very different to London.”
