ELEVEN cars were towed away for being parked illegally in a Henley street.

Oxfordshire County Council introduced a no parking traffic restriction in Deanfield Avenue during the regatta.

Police issued parking tickets to the cars before 24-7 Rescue & Recovery, of High Wycombe, towed the vehicles away on Thursday last week.

Phil Buckett, of Deanfield Road, said: “Seven trucks were there at about 10.30am. It was quite a sight. One of the cars had been left in gear so it was more difficult to tow away.

“You can park there normally but during the regatta the police put out cones because of the traffic diversion and clearly people ignored them. The cars all had police parking stickers on them.”
