LARGE housing and commercial developments will not be permitted on green belt land in South Oxfordshire, says the district council.

A report commissioned by the planning authority concluded the green belt is still serving its original purpose of containing urban sprawl.

Because of this, the council says it will not allow major planning applications on such sites under its new local plan, which is currently being Â written.
