MORE signs are needed on a road in Peppard to discourage drivers from speeding, says a parish councillor.
Veronica Treacher was asked by the parish council to investigate the problem on Gallowstree Road together with resident Ray Freeman after he complained that many drivers ignored the 30mph limit on the stretch between the Stoke Row Road crossroads and the Greyhound pub about 100 yards away.Â
Mr Freeman said: “The report says we think there are not enough signs. There is one small 30mph sign.
“When we were there, there were not that many motorists speeding or many cars coming down there but I still feel quite a few drivers are exceeding the speed limit.”
Council chairman Simon Crouch said they would think carefully before spending money on a speed survey.
Councillor Fiona Berry said the area around the crossroads had been investigated previously and more data could be available in the council’s records.
The council has carried out speed surveys in other parts of the parish.
A survey of the B481 in May last year showed 43 per cents of drivers broke the 30mph speed limit.
Another survey showed 18 per cent of drivers went over the speed limit on Blounts Court Road.
