HENLEY HAWKS 2nds eased to convincing 35-20 Maidenhead and District League Division 2 win against SURVEY MAX.
The defensive pairing of Sarah Kenyon and Emma Robinson proved formidable, applying relentless pressure on Survey Max’s shooters.
In the midcourt, Cate Fitt was instrumental in transitioning defence into attack while Jules Tomlinson controlled the game with her vision and seamless connections with the attacking duo.
Nikki Stubbs provided pinpoint feeds into the circle, keeping Survey Max’s defenders on their toes and her partnership with Totie Thomas was a highlight, with Thomas showcasing her agility and clinical shooting under pressure.
At the shooting end, Kate Tremayne delivered a masterclass in positioning and accuracy, ensuring Hawks maintained a strong lead throughout the game.
Hawks built momentum quarter by quarter, with every player stepping up to deliver a comprehensive team performance and gain the 15-goal win.
In Division 3, HENLEY HAWKS 3rds eased to a comfortable 43-22 win against BLUEBIRDS.
The Hawks started strong, establishing early dominance with sharp passing and clinical shooting from Millie Roberts and Abbie Cocks. The defensive trio of Victoria Thorpe, Lucy Sharman-Munday, and Sasha Reed worked tirelessly, forcing errors and limiting Bluebirds scoring opportunities. The Hawks ended the first quarter with a comfortable 10-4 lead.
Momentum continued into the second quarter, with Amber Tate driving the midcourt and linking up well with Marieka Fox to feed the circle. The Hawks shooters maintained accuracy, while the defensive circle kept the pressure on, capitalising on turnovers. By halftime, the Hawks led 21-9.
Juliet Machan came on, slotting into the defensive line-up and her energy and interceptions boosted the Hawks defensive presence. The Hawks’ extended their lead further, with both Roberts and Cocks continuing to convert opportunities and the team showing fluid transitions through the court. The third-quarter ended with Hawks leading 33-15.
The final quarter saw the Hawks maintain their composure, despite a late surge from Bluebirds. Strong defensive rebounding and excellent teamwork across all areas ensured the Hawks held their ground. Accurate shooting and clever play in the circle saw the Hawks triumph by 21 goals.
HENLEY HAWKS 4ths delivered a commanding performance in their Division 4 clash against THE BLUES, securing a 33-6 victory after a strong second-half display.
The match began at a slow pace, with both teams struggling to find rhythm in the opening quarter. However, Hawks soon settled into the game, and in the second quarter, they took full control.
The second half saw Hawks dominating in all areas of the court. The shooting circle was particularly impressive, with Priddy and Ramos capitalising on every opportunity to extend the lead. The defensive unit continued to frustrate The Blues, restricting them to just six goals across the entire match.
By the final whistle, Hawks had stamped their authority on the game, pulling away in each quarter to secure victory by 27 goals.
HENLEY HAWKS 5ths continued their unbeaten run in Division 4 with a well-earned 25-15 victory against PINK FLAMINGOS BLUSH. The result cements Hawks’ position at the top of the table as the only team with a 100 per cent record this season.
The opening quarter saw Hawks come out strong, establishing a five-goal cushion early on.
In the second quarter, Blush responded well, tightening their defensive play and disrupting Hawks’ rhythm. Their persistence paid off as they managed to claw back a goal, narrowing the gap to just four at half-time. During this quarter, new recruit Hannah Flintham made her Hawks debut, stepping into support the defence.
The third quarter was an intense, end-to-end battle, with both teams matching each other goal for goal. Hawks remained composed, with Jodie Hill and Rachel Platt working tirelessly to keep Blush’s attacking threats at bay. Despite the back-and-forth nature of the quarter, Hawks managed to restore their five-goal advantage heading into the final 15 minutes.
The last quarter saw the Hawks stamp their authority on the game. The defensive unit, led by Belle Tebbutt, Rachel Platt, and Jodie Hill, put up a wall in the circle, preventing Blush’s shooters from finding space or time to create opportunities.
Meanwhile, Hannah Flintham injected fresh energy into the mid-court, linking play seamlessly and helping to drive turnovers. With Hawks shooters capitalising on every chance, the team extended their lead to secure the 10-goal victory.
