MY appeal last week for someone to identify Judi-Ann Roscoe’s mystery plant has worked.

Steve Goodrich, who is head gardener on a private estate in Shiplake, contacted me to say it is Arisaema tortuosum, commonly known as the cobra lily.

He continues: “It is native to the Himalayan region of India and is commonly available in this country as an unusual bulb.

“I was sure from Judi-Ann’s pictures that I remembered this plant from deep in my horticultural grey matter!”

Many thanks, Steve, I’m sure she will be grateful.
