Children clock up miles in playground charity ride

PUPILS at Badgemore Primary School in Henley clocked up a combined total of more than 20 miles to raise money for a charity.

The children were asked to bring their bikes and scooters to the school in Badgemore Lane on Friday.

Each class took turns doing laps of the playground in aid of Pursuing Independent Paths, a charity which helps adults with learning disabilities. The event was organised by the charity’s director Bill Feeney, of Queen Street, Henley, whose daughters Poppy, 10, and Daisy, six, both attend the school.

Mr Feeney, a governor of the school, said: “The kids were great and it was good to see them out exercising while raising money for a really worthy cause. They embraced the physical challenge and health and wellbeing is really important for these pupils.”

Headteacher Jacky Steele said: “The children at Badgemore always want to help people less fortunate than themselves and Bill’s charity is one we are very keen to support.”



PIP organises a 20-mile mountain bike challenge around the Chilterns for about 70 riders each year. This year’s event took place on Saturday and included staff and parents from the school.
