AT St Mary’s School, the children progress from our nursery, from age two to four, into kindergarten — more commonly known as reception in other settings.
Class sizes are kept small, with an even mix of boys and girls and a maximum of 16 children, ensuring pupils get the individual attention they need.
There is a balance between the children learning alongside an adult and the child learning on their own. These child-initiated activities consolidate the skills learnt in lessons but they are subtly organised into what is recognised as “play”.
Kindergarten has its own designated area — however the children are fully integrated into the school where they are taught by specialist subject teachers in music, French, IT, sport and drama.
There are also a variety of extracurricular clubs available to them such as yoga, judo and construction club.
Kindergarten children at St Mary’s are nurtured from the moment they join the school.
