STUDENTS at Icknield Community College in Watlington staged a production of the musical

Grease.

The performance, which ran over three nights, was organised by James Dobson, head of music, and Adam Rowe, head of drama.

Sophie Koziol, the school’s textiles teacher, was responsible for the set and costumes. Sandy was played by year 10 student Florence Amery, who said: “I can genuinely say that this production has been the highlight of year 10 for me.

“I have enjoyed being Sandy so much and have looked forward to each and every rehearsal. I have Mr Dobson and Mr Rowe to thank for those amazing three months.” Doody, one of the T-Birds, was played by year nine pupil Benoit Preece, who said: “I’ve loved playing the part. It has given me a chance to meet all the amazing people behind productions at Icknield.

“All the ‘Greasers’ have been supportive of each other and it has helped me to improve my acting and singing ability.” Year 10 pupil Rhys Jackson, who played fellow T-Bird Sonny, said: “I have really enjoyed being among so many talented people and playing the role of Sonny has been the most entertaining experience ever.

“The rehearsals were one of the most fun times of my life and a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity that I am happy to have been part of.”
