Going wild

Imogen Taylor, the author-illustrator of the POWEs, a series of children’s books about wildlife conservation which donates 20 per cent of the profits to wildlife conservation charities, visited a number of children’s schools in the Henley area. The stories follow the adventures of two children and their friends who are on a mission to save endangered wildlife. Imogen spent time reading The POWEs And The Disappearing Tusks, the first book in the series, to pupils at St Mary’s School, Valley Road and Trinity primaries in Henley and Peppard and Stoke Row primaries. She talked about the importance of conservation, sharing fun animal facts and drawing with her eager audience. The visits finished with a personal book signing session. Imogen, who is originally from Henley but now lives in Australia, said: “It was great fun. The children’s enthusiasm and excitement was inspiring. They really took on board the conservation message of the book and came up with great ideas as to how we can all help to save the planet. They asked brilliant and often funny questions, showing great imagination and talent when we created illustrations together. I hope that my book goes some way to encourage children to care passionately for their environment and the wildlife which inhabits it, throughout their lives.”
