TWO men have been ordered to complete 200 hours of community service after they admitted hare coursing in South Stoke.

Billy Cole, 32, of Blackwater, and Joseph Wenman, 37, of Roke, pleaded guilty to being equipped for pursuing hares, trespass and criminal damage on October 24 last year.

A police helicopter spotted the pair driving across cropped fields and a search of their vehicle found a dead hare and slip leads that are used in hare coursing.

Reading Magistrates’ Court also ordered each of the men to pay £500 compensation, £400 costs and a victim surcharge of £114.
