Children’s workshop

09:30AM, Monday 17 February 2025

A FUN painting and printing workshop for children will be held in Watlington.

The free event will be held on Wednesday from 10am to 1pm at the Methodist church in Shirburn Street, led by Sharon Akers.

It has been organised by Watlington artsHub and is funded by a grant from the Beacon Festival.

The morning is aimed at eight- to 13-year-olds who are welcome on their own or with their parents. Spaces are limited to eight.

They will have the opportunity to explore painting and printing. All materials are provided. Children are recommended to wear old clothes as the workshop can become messy.

Ms Akers is an experienced art teacher who focuses on developing students’ confidence to explore their creativity using different techniques.

She said: “Having taught art and design in schools and colleges for more than 30 years, I am now working independently, offering a wide range of art workshops.

“Akers Art Classes are always geared towards exploration for all abilities. They are relaxed and informal with the aim that each student takes away at least one piece of artwork. I can cater for a wide variety of techniques and materials.”
