BARONESS Floella Benjamin was the star attraction of night 13 of this year's Henley Living Advent Calendar.

The former children's entertainer gave an animated and amusing reading of the Twelve Days of Christmas by John Julius Norwich at Hotel du Vin on Sunday.

More than 100 people crammed into the courtyard for the performance, which had been transformed into a fireside setting.

After the reading, spectators were encouraged to join in with a rendition of the traditional carol The Twelve Days of Christmas.

The Henley Literary Festival hosted the event, providing mulled wine and mince pies, while a collection and raffle raised money for the Sue Rider hospice at Nettlebed. Prizes were donated by the festival, Hotel du Vin and Spice Merchant restaurant.

Tonight's performance will be staged at the Bull pub on Bell Street, Henley.
