A GALLERY exhibition at Henley’s Lady Sew and Sew fabric warehouse is entering its last few days — but there’s still time to catch it.
The show, entitled “Worn Threads”, features an array of artwork inspired by different items of clothing.
It is the work of Thames Valley Contemporary Textiles — a group of contemporary textile artists who meet four times a year.
For their third exhibition, members were asked to design and make a piece inspired by a garment, hence the “Worn Threads” title.
A spokesman for Lady Sew and Sew said: “Many of the artists have chosen garments that have a personal or family connection, resulting in pieces that are not only innovative but tell fascinating and sometimes emotional stories.
“This is a ‘must see’ exhibition showcasing the work of over 30 inspirational textile artists. It is of interest to a wide audience not only because of the textiles skills of the artists but the fascinating stories associated with the garments.
“There are glimpses of social and family events which have affected and influenced us over the last century.
“For example, what is the story behind the Iroquois moccasins brought back from Canada in the early 20th century? How is a piece with the title ‘Ten Thousand Apples’ inspired by a wedding dress?”
The exhibition runs until Monday (February 22) and is available to view on weekdays from 10am to 4pm at the fabric warehouse in Farm Road, Henley.
