Professor, wine retailer and farmer recognised in King’s birthday honours

A PROFESSOR, agricultural farmer and wine retailer from the Henley area have been recognised in the King’s birthday honours list.

Eleanor Jane Milner-Gulland, who lives in Park Corner, has been made a dame for services to international conservation.  

She is the Tasso Leventis chair in biodiversity in the department of biology at Oxford University.

Dame Eleanor has written several papers that have been recognised internationally.

Barbara Laithwaite, who lives in Rotherfield Peppard, is the managing director of Laithwaites Wines and has been made a CBE for services to the wine industry.

Iain Tolhurst, owner of an organic fruit and vegetable farm in Whitchurch, was made an MBE for services to agriculture.
