A PLAYING card business in Henley has raised £625 over the last 12 months in aid of the Kenton Theatre.
The profits were generated from the sale of their Henley playing cards and brings the total raised for the theatre to £839.25 since the business was launched two years ago.
The cards feature illustrated designs of landmarks in the town including the Cheesy Grape, the Scoop Room, the Henley Royal Regatta, the Regal Picturehouse and St Mary’s Church.
The designs also include the Henley Swim festival, Rewind Festival and the Henley Living Advent Calendar. For every pack sold, 25p is donated to the theatre.
Emma Sweet, who lives in Knowl Hill, came up with the idea in August 2022 and hoped it would provide a guide for people visiting Henley.
She said: “The Kenton is more than a theatre, it’s a cultural cornerstone and we’re delighted that every shuffle of the cards contributes to keep it thriving.
“Each pack is special because it captures the spirit it represents, not just through the locations featured on the cards but through the community it supports. Every pack is a celebration of what makes each town unique.”
Theatre manager Lottie Pheasant said the funds raised would support the maintenance of the New Street theatre.
She said: “We are incredibly grateful for the generous support from Ace Places and everyone who has purchased a pack of Henley Playing Cards.
“Not only are the cards beautifully designed, but they also offer a unique and heartfelt way to celebrate the spirit of Henley. This contribution helps us remain a vital part of the Henley community.”
