NOW here’s the thing — an opportunity for someone out there to buy the world’s fastest roadster, the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition.
That is if you happen to have £1,795,000 you are not using for buying a house or somesuch. Oh, and by the way, this Bugatti, dare I say it, is secondhand.
That prestigious car dealer HR Owen, which is the only official UK dealer for Bugatti sales and servicing, is offering the low-mileage Bugatti Veyron for sale at its Berkeley Square showroom in London.
I once cheekily emailed the French PR for Bugatti and asked if I could test a Veyron for my readers at the Henley Standard. But don’t hold your breath: they have still to get back to me.
Anyway, the open-top Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition is finished in black carbon fibre with orange painted arancia carbon fibre details. The black and orange theme continues inside, with black and orange leather combining with arancia mira alcantara.
The colour scheme was conceived for the car’s record-breaking speed attempt, which took place in April 2013 when it reached 254.04mph.
This run made the 1200PS (1,184bhp) car officially the world’s fastest open-top car, and this car is the ultimate incarnation of the Veyron.
Of the 450 Veyrons made, there were only 150 roadsters produced and of those, only eight were world record editions — making this a very rare car.
This particular version is a UK car and was originally registered in October 2013. It has only had the one owner since then, and has covered just 1,130 miles in its lifetime.
With the Veyron only ever being made in limited numbers — just 450 were made over nine years of production — values could be strong in future.
Anita Krizsan, Bugatti brand director for HR Owen, says: “It was a pleasure to sell this car to its first owner the first time around, and we are delighted that our unique relationship with our clients means that we have the opportunity to help the car find its second owner. This is a fantastic example of an iconic car, which has been meticulously cared for in its life so far. It will make for a wonderful investment for collectors and enthusiasts alike.”
Anita is apparently one of the most successful Bugatti salespeople in the world. She sold a record 11 Bugatti Veyrons in 2012.
