Crowds descend on Rewind as roads close

The Rewind Festival, Henley
FORTY thousand music fans will descend on Temple Island Meadows in Henley this weekend for the sixth annual Rewind Festival.

Roads near the festival site will be partially or fully closed, including sections of Remenham Lane and the entire length of Aston Lane.

The event, a celebration of Eighties pop music, will be headlined by Holly Johnson and the Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey.

Other performers include Bonnie Tyler, Jason Donovan, Wang Chung, Level 42, UB40, Howard Jones, A Flock of Seagulls, Roland Gift, Sister Sledge, The Boomtown Rats and Mike and the Mechanics.

Promoter David Heartfield, from Rotherfield Greys, said people were still enquiring about tickets despite the event selling out at end of June.

“We have had such a great demand for tickets but we can’t sell any more,” he said.

He said that hotels, bed and breakfasts and restaurants should all benefit from the festival.

Hobbs of Henley will be running a regular river shuttle to the site and there will be bicycle racks for people who want to cycle.

Aston Lane will be closed to all traffic from 9am Friday until 1pm on Monday as will two sections of Remenham Lane. Remenham Lane and Remenham Church Lane will also be one-way during certain hours.

There will be no right-hand turn from the A321 Wargrave Road on to the A4130 White Hill and no left-hand turn from White Hill on to Wargrave Road.
