Visitors have no answer to free-scoring Henley

HENLEY eased to a comfortable Counties 1 Tribute Ale Southern North victory at home to Bletchley last Saturday.

The home side got off to a strong start as the ball was moved wide for Will Leach who took play into the Bletchley half and following good carries Sichel touched down.

Henley extended their lead when Toby Howe sprinted in and outpaced the defence after an Aaron Bello break. Although they did spend time a man down, Henley never looked like conceding a try. They finished the half strongly when Zack Taylor crashed over on the stroke of half-time to make it 15-0.

The home side started the second half strongly with Morgan Poiner finding Lucas Braithwaite who powered through the tackles to sprint in. The next try came when Tom David fed his co-centre Bello to sprint in. Poiner was then in for his second of the afternoon after patient build-up play saw him crash over from close range.

Howe, now at fly half, was showing his range of passing, and his pinpoint pass and run saw Isaac Small dart in. Next on the scoresheet was Soli Whittaker, who sprinted in after a fine pass from David.

Whittaker scored his second soon after when a good interlink with Howe saw him sprint in. The last try of the afternoon was scored from far out, the ball moved out to Leach, who sprinted down the wing to draw the last defender to give David the run in to dot down after post. The man-of-the-match award went to Bobby Wilson.
