STRICTLY judge and dance maestro Craig Revel Horwood directs the summer season show at the Watermill Theatre opening later this month.
The Witches Of Eastwick is a musical comedy that tells the story of three unhappy divorcees in a sleepy town.
Sukie, Jane and Alexandra meet to bemoan the lack of eligible men, and the strength of their fantasies summons a new man into town, Darryl Van Horne.
The newcomer does not come quite up to scratch, but this fact doesn’t seem to bother him as he sets about seducing and transforming the women one by one by nefarious means. He imbues the women with magic powers, thus setting in motion a series of events that eventually bring about his demise.
Van Horne — brought to life unforgettably by Jack Nicholson in the 1987 Hollywood film — is played in this stage version by Alex Bourne.
Bourne received an Olivier nomination in the Best Actor In A Musical category for his role in Kiss Me Kate at Chichester.
Since premiering in the West End in 2000 The Witches Of Eastwick has already had one UK tour and now it is back by arrangement with Cameron Mackintosh Ltd.
The musical arranger is Paul Herbert, whose previous work at the Watermill includes Thoroughly Modern Millie and Radio Times.
