Sisters in prewar divides

A NEW play about the Mitford sisters is coming to the Oxford Playhouse at the end of the month.

The Party Girls, a Marlowe Theatre production written by Amy Rosenthal and directed by Richard Beecham, focuses on Nancy, Diana, Unity, Debo through the eyes of their sister Jessica.

Socialites in a divisive political atmosphere just before the Second World War, Nancy wants to be a writer, Debo is interested in a duke and Diana and Unity lean towards the far right in Thirties Britain and Germany. Meanwhile, Jessica is travelling overseas in search of love and possibly some freedom from her family.
