Slough car dealer charged £2800 for parking cars for sale on public highway

Slough Magistrates Court

A Slough car dealer will have to pay more than £2000 in costs after being convicted of parking cars for sale on a public road.

Auto City Trader Ltd director Muhammad Akhtar appeared in Slough Magistrates’ Court on Friday (April 19) and pleaded guilty to two offences of exposing vehicles for sale on a public highway.

The company parked vehicles for sale on Lascelles Road in Slough and was previously fined for the same behaviour in 2022.

Auto City Trader Ltd was convicted and fined £76 for each of the two offences, meaning a £152 fine to mark the offences after giving credit for an early guilty plea.

Auto City Trader Ltd must pay prosecution costs of £2,610 and a victim surcharge of £61, making a total of £2,823.

Slough council's resilience and enforcement lead Linda Corcoran said: “We hope this will be a deterrent to both Auto City Trader Ltd and anyone else who is considering parking vehicles for sale on Slough's streets, or indeed in the car parks of our local parks.

“This nuisance parking not only causes problems for local residents to park but can stop residents from enjoying local amenities such as Upton Court Park. This is illegal and we won’t hesitate to take action whenever necessary.

“We will continue to monitor hotspots in the borough and would encourage residents to let us know if they see this occurring on 01753 475111 or via the website: Nuisance parking – Slough Borough Council.”
