Extra trains put on during Queen's 90th birthday celebrations

Extra trains will be put on to help people celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Great Western Railway (GWR) will provide about 20 extra services between Slough and Windsor & Eton Central, with extra carriages, to take people to and from the events at Windsor Castle.

The celebrations are set to take place in the private grounds of the castle for ticket holders only in the evenings of Thursday, May 12 to Sunday, May 15.

Those travelling to the celebrations are advised to leave early and take advantage of quieter trains.

Alison Hanscomb, of GWR, said: “While our friendly and approachable staff will be on hand to help keep people moving, I would urge customers to allow time for their journeys to get to Windsor and to check the time of journeys home.

“We are providing extra trains but the station is still expected to be a lot busier than normal.”
