Organisers hail Langley International Day of Yoga celebration a 'resounding success'

Organisers of an International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebration at a school in Langley have hailed the event a ‘resounding success’ with more than 100 people attending.

Now into its 11th year, this year’s event entitled What’s Your Yoga? was held at The Langley Academy on Saturday, June 21.

The event followed the theme of One Earth, One Health and was hosted by the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (BKWSU) Slough.

A range of local yoga and wellness groups showcased their practices during the event and Sister Meera Javed, co-ordinator of the Brahma Kumaris Slough (outreach) activities, led guided meditation commentaries.

A special feature at the event was the Affirmation Tower, where attendees could write and place personal affirmations.

This was officially opened by Slough’s deputy mayor Neel Rana.

Attendees to the event included Karnail Singh Pannu and Paul Samuels of the Windsor and Maidenhead Community Forum (WAMCF) and sound healer Neil Banerjee.

The programme also featured yoga and chanting sessions, a sound bath, music and meditations.

Master of Ceremonies Bindu Channaveerappa was responsible for announcing and guiding the event.

Guests also enjoyed conversations and making connections over a buffet.
