Maidenhead United’s new loan signings Cameron Eubank and Dillon De Silva were both included in Tuesday’s squad for the trip to Tonbridge Angels and contributed to a hard-earned 1-0 win.
The Magpies have signed midfielder Eubank from Birmingham City until the end of the season and hope he can provide both the steel and finesse needed to spark their promotion challenge.
The 20-year-old will be on United’s books until the end of the season and - along with De Silva - came on as a second half substitute in the Magpies clash with Tonbridge at the Longmead Stadium.
He links up with the squad having made 17 appearances for Birmingham City’s u21s team in the PL2 and Premier League Cup this season. He’s also the latest Blues player to make the switch into senior football and will be hoping he can establish himself as a regular in Ryan Peters’ side in the coming weeks and months.
The Magpies have also bolstered their attacking options with the signing of De Silva on loan from Sutton United until the end of the season.
Peters got a first look at both loan signings in the second half of his side’s win at Tonbridge. De Silva came on for Josh Umerah just minutes after Eubank replaced Asher Yearwood.
“Steel and finesse,” said Peters.
“At the moment it’s proving a little bit tougher to score as many goals as we would like. So, in that instance, Dillon will be very good in terms of supplying and scoring goals. In the middle of the park, we’re a little bit light on numbers, especially on the astroturf pitches. So, Cameron coming in will give us that steel in the midfield.
“And he can also play so we’re hoping our patterns will emerge a little bit more and that we’ll be good value (for more victories).
United are looking to chase down a top seven finish in the closing months of the season and find themselves four points off the play-off spots after Tuesday’s win.
They managed to snatch victory in the dying seconds when Matt Robinson headed home Josh Popoola’s free kick.
They next go to league leaders Torquay United on Saturday.
