A DEVELOPER is seeking permission to knock down a house in Whitchurch and build two in its place.

Bellmore Homes wants to demolish The Haven in Eastfield Lane and replace it with a pair of two-storey, four-bedroom properties.

It says the existing Thirties house is of poor quality, has no architectural merit and doesn’t comply with modern building regulations.

Neighbours have objected, saying it is overdevelopment of the site and doesn’t include enough parking so visitors would park on the road, which has no pavement.

South Oxfordshire District Council will make the final decision.

It is already investigating an alleged planning breach as the roof of the existing house has been removed.
