Barmaid in top three at first beauty and fitness competition

A BARMAID was awarded third place in a beauty and fitness competition — at the first time of asking.

Shane Head, 41, of Honey Lane, Hurley, was one of 120 women to take part in the Miss Galaxy Universe contest in which she had to complete a series of fitness tests and a bikini modelling round.

The former personal trainer also took fifth place in the fitness model and fitness champion categories of the competition held in Crawley, West Sussex.

Miss Head, who works at the Dew Drop Inn in Hurley, said: “I’m over the moon. It was the first time I’ve ever done anything like this and I loved every minute of it.

“As it got closer to the day, my competitive streak came out and I really wanted to get a sash. Now I have three.”
