German exhibition showcases wildlife

THE brother of Antiques Roadshow expert Jonty Hearnden is back at the Old Fire Station Gallery in Henley to exhibit more works from Germany.

The latest showcase by Simon Hearnden, which opens today (Friday) includes the first showing of a series of big game animal canvases.

The exhibition is entitled LIFE in contrasts and features works by Stefanie Gendera, from Berlin, known as the MARA 2015 canvases.

Simon, who works as a graphic designer, loves German artwork which stems from time living in Berlin about 10 years ago.

He says he couldn’t wait to exhibit Stefanie’s work. “Her giant black and white canvas of zebras made such an impression on visitors to my exhibition at the gallery last December that I persuaded Stefanie, easily, to create and now exhibit her fantastic series of canvases and fine, signed giclée prints here in the UK first. Her ultra realistic images with a twist make exciting viewing, and for a few will no doubt become a pleasure to own.”



Stefanie will be attending a preview at the venue in Upper Market Place tonight (Friday) from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and for the first few days of the exhibition.

There will also be stone-printed limited edition lithographs by a selection of artists who have worked in, or passed through Berlin recently, previously unseen works by the now locally popular Walter Lindner and other artists of promise.

LIFE in contrasts opens daily from 10am to 6pm and runs until June 7.
