WILL THOMPSON has completed a clean sweep of local school cross country races this season, winning every race that he has entered.
The 10-year-old runs on behalf of Sacred Heart School in Henley, which finished runners-up in the Oxfordshire Primary Schools Cross Country Championship, held at Chiltern Edge School in Sonning Common.
Will, who is the school’s sports captain, picked up gold in the 1800m while there were silvers for Madeleine Hepworth in the Year 4 1100m, and Natasha Rasmusen in the Year 5 1500m and bronze for Kallum McWilliams in the Year 5 1500m.
Forty-two pupils from the school took part in the competition with 18 securing podium places. School teams came second in the Year 4 girls 1100m and third in the Year 3 girls 1100m, Year 3 boys 1100m, Year 4 boys 1500m, Year 5girls 1500m and Year 6 girls 1800m.
Will, who lives in Deanfield Avenue, Henley, will race in the county final in Abingdon on March 22, running a distance of 1500m.
